Summary: most inaccurate automatic watch ever
Comment: AFter reading all of the reviews on this watch, I decided to add the orange monster on my collection. But after 5 months of wearing it, I realized that this is one of most inaccuracy automatic watch ever made. I've always doubt about seiko automatic movement but still want to give it a try. My orange monster is about 2 minutes faster everyday. I had to adjust it daily, while my movado museum only off about 2 minutes/month. My Tissot is off about 3.5 minutes/month. If you want to buy good automatic watch, I would recommend Tissot, Oris, Longines, Movado, and Raymond Weil. Spend a little bit more money, but it is worth it.

Summary: Accept no subtitute, go for the new icon, the Orange Monster
Comment: This is an awesome watch. Great dive watch, great automatic watch (winds from the movement of your wrist), great BIG watch.

With a stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap, this is water resistant to 200m, with strongly luminescent markings on an orange dial, and a unidirectional bezel. The orange was selected for visibility at depth, and the bezel that rotates in one direction is a hold over from the days before digital dive computers. The large dial also aids visibility.

It uses an excellent and proven movement from Seiko, the 7S26, the basic movement of the Seiko 5 series of watches. "5" for the five traits; 1. Automatic, 2. Water resistant, 3. Shock resistant, 4. Date, 5. Day. For someone who wants an automatic without paying Swiss prices (or wants to avoid Invicta and their issues), this is an excellent choice, as it would be for someone buying their first automatic watch. No kidding, this movement keeps time as well as the workhorse of Swiss movements, the ETA 2824-2.

This watch is a big watch. We're talking one serious hunk of steel. About 43mm diameter and 11mm thick, this is pretty darn big, and carved out of a block of steel, so heavy also. This might put some folks off, and some folks might go for it for compensations' sake, but I like a watch like this for outdoors, working out, and other tasks that would put a lesser timepiece in mortal peril.

I'm sold, this thing rocks.

Summary: Seiko Orange Monster SKX781K1 (2008/12/16)
Comment: Hello, I just recieved the Seiko SKX781K1 (Orange Monster, Steel bracelet).

It cost me $194 (including $39.00 shipping to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada). Ordered on 4pm Friday, recieved 2pm Tuesday (2 day shipping).

This watch is built very SOLID, the crown screws down nice and tight as well. It is fairly heavy (which is nice) only 8 grams lighter than my Tissot Seastar 1000 (blue). My Tissot is a bit classier and now dedicated to special occasions.

Very nice bracelet that fits my 8" wrist perfectly (just enough to slide around on the top of my wrist but not enough play to spin it all the way around or slide to far up my forearm).

Some very minor things I dont like about this watch are: the bracelet tappers, I wish it just stayed nice and wide the whole way around. The second hand doesn't have that nice smooth sweep that you see in the Tissot Seastar 1000 (or look at vids of an auto Rolex). The diver deployant is a bit hard to figure out, however it will never accidentally come undone.

There are many good reviews on [...] for the Orange and Black Monsters that are worth while spending some time to watch before buying this beautiful timepiece.

I plan on test driving this baby for a couple of months before I buy the slightly more expensive Black Monster.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope it helps you gain a better understanding of the quality that this watch is imbued with.

Summary: I really enjoy this watch
Comment: I already have the Black Monster and like it. I bought the Orange monster because the day/date is Black print on white and easier to see. This watch is keeping perfect time, as opposed to the black face which picke up 1-2 minutes each day. I was resetting it 2-3 times a week. I knew this would probably occurr from other reviews I read on Amazon. I like the large watch, and both are quite rugged.

Comment:
These seiko automatics keep terrible time they go super fast,a 20 dollars quartz keep much better time than these,i guess for fanatics and collectors is ok.There's new technology now,no reason to stay in the past.
