Now to be antectotal: My wife and I have been taking this dosage for two years and have not yet caught even a code.
One other comment: Both of us have found that our hair and our nails are growing about 1.3 times as rapidly as they used to. Why?

Summary: This is a very good product
Comment: The warning on the label cautions the patient that high-dosage Vitamin D3 might cause all sorts of health problems. It advises monthly blood tests to check for serum 25(OH)D in the danger level. I am happy to report that for way more than 99% of the population, 5,000 IU will bring you into the optimal range. This warning is the manufacturer's way of limiting legal liability in case something goes wrong, but it basically is safe. 5,000 IU typically brings a blood level of 15 ng/mL up to around 40 ng/mL. You could go three times that high and it would still be safe according to research done by Dr. Reinhold Vieth at the University of Toronto. If everyone took 5,000 IU of D3 the world would be far healthier. Disclosure: I am not connected to this company except as a customer, I do not sell vitamins, and I am not a health professional.

Comment: I've been using this now for several months and have had no problems with illness. You do need to follow the directions and take it with food.

Comment: I don't know if it's just the effects of D3 but this large dosage made me sick. You may want to lower the dosage to 1000MG if it happens to you.
