Customer Rating: Summary: excellent traction Comment: Four months out of the year I walk out my front door onto hard pack snow and ice. Stabilicers are easy to put on, provide excellent traction and remain in place as you walk in hardpack snow, ice or deep snow. The only problem I have had is the loss of the metal "studs". I used them frequently last winter and lost 5 "studs" (I walk the dog twice a day and used them maybe 50% of the time during the above mentioned four months) -replacements are available and easy to install.
The previous winter I used a pair of basic Yaktrax and found them good but found they would not stay in place in severe conditions (steeper slopes with ice.
Also - be careful with any of these products on concrete or tile floors - they will be slippery and they can leave marks in wood floors.
Overall I highly recommend Stabilicers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stabilicers Comment: These ice grips are nothing short of fantastic! The cleated design is much more secure than other types (e.g., tire-chain style) and even get us safely across glare ice. I wouldn't have believed it. Our winters are very icy, with temperatures marginal often enough that the ice is extremely slick. No problem with Stabilicers. They are well worth the cost (a bad fall on the ice can mean thousands of $ in medical expenses.
Customer Rating: Summary: awesome traction Comment: I do some winter hiking. I am not a mountaineer, but occasionally I use crampons on steep trails. When it is cold it can be an issue to put crampons with cold hands. Crampons are often more than you need too, when you just need a little extra traction on icy spots. Stabilicers are extremely easy to put on and take off with their velcro straps. Also, they stay on very well with no adjustment. They also give you great traction on ice and slippery rocks but still allow you to glissade down snowy sections of trails. They certainly won't replace crampons but unless you are doing technical mountaineering, you will be very happy with stabilicers.
